Three Charged, Pound Of Meth Seized By JPD In Traffic Stops

More than a pound of crystal methamphetamine was seized Thursday during two traffic stops in the city.

At about 2:15 p.m., Jamestown police pulled over 32-year-old Beau K.C. Jones, who was driving on Newland Avenue and suspected to be unlicensed.

Inside his vehicle, police saw a suspicious-looking package, which, after a search warrant, was found to contain more than a pound, or 17.9 ounces, of crystal meth.

Jones was charged with first-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.

The seizure is the latest in a string of arrests involving Jones and meth.

In March 2015, Jones was one of four area residents charged with unlawful manufacturing of meth after Jamestown Metro Drug Task Force agents raided a 600 W. Fifth St. residence.

On Feb. 12, 2015, Jones was linked to a meth lab at 242 McKinley Ave. He had also been charged in October after a meth bust at 607 Lafayette St. and was charged in October 2013 after a traffic stop by Jamestown police officers turned up cocaine and marijuana in the car.

Further investigation Thursday led police to pull over another vehicle occupied by 20-year-old Steven D. Crowl and 30-year-old Matthew S. Jones.

After obtaining a search warrant, police located a safe inside the vehicle that contained 2.9 ounces of crystal meth.

Crowl and Jones were both charged with second-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance.

Police said the investigation is continuing and additional charges and arrests are expected.
