Snow-Covered Roads Lead To Multiple Accidents
As winter weather returns with a vengeance, so too do the car accidents.
Today, the New York State Police responded to multiple weather-related accidents in the area, including a Findley Lake fire truck that reportedly veered off the road during a call.
According to Captain Eric J. Balon, Troop A Zone III commander of the State Police, the Findley Lake Fire Department was responding to a property damage accident in Mina around 3:30 p.m.
While traveling westbound on Route 430, the driver reportedly lost control on the snow-covered roadway, slid sideways and struck a vehicle in front of the Findley Lake Post Office.
No injuries were reported, Balon said.
Around 3 p.m., State Troopers also responded to a school bus that reportedly slid off the road and into a guardrail along Route 62 in Dayton.
Balon said 31 children were on board, but no injuries were reported.
The National Weather Service in Buffalo issued a Lake Effect Snow Warning for Chautauqua County beginning Thursday and ending Saturday at 6 a.m.
