Friday Night Bomb Threat At Wal-Mart Unfounded

LAKEWOOD – Police are still investigating a report of a bomb threat at the Lakewood Wal-Mart on Friday night.

The Lakewood-Busti Police responded to the store for a report of a bomb around 10:05 p.m. Upon arrival, they were told that an unknown male reported a bomb in the store near the sporting goods department. The store was evacuated of all customers and employees and a lengthy search of the store was conducted.

Two Lakewood-Busti K-9 handlers and their K-9s conducted a search of the store and no explosive device was found.

“There aren’t many details yet, other than the fact that the bomb squad was requested and the bomb threat was unfounded,” said Joe Gerace, Chautauqua County sheriff.

Chautauqua County Sheriff’s bomb squad members also conducted a search of the store along with the Lakewood Fire Department.

Lakewood-Busti police were assisted by the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s K-9 handler, Bermaster, and his K-9, who together conducted a search of the store as well.

Chautauqua County Sheriff’s bomb squad members also conducted a search of the store along with the Lakewood Fire Department.
