Pumpkintown Opens With Ribbon Cutting
BUSTI — It was cold Saturday morning as temperatures dropped to 40 degrees, but that didn’t stop Eric Anderson, co-creator of Pumpkintown, and company from celebrating the official opening and success of Pumpkintown.
“Here at Pumpkintown, our intention is to bring an educational approach to agriculture in Chautauqua County,” Anderson said.
Anderson emphasized that the goal of Pumpkintown is to first have fun, but also educate the local youth on the surrounding agriculture economy. He said Pumpkintown can educate the community on the creation of hay, corn and apple cider that is all made in Busti.
“I think we’ve done a good job at doing that so far,” Anderson said.
Anderson and Jason Genberg broke ground for Pumpkintown in June and began opening the grounds Oct. 6.
In attendance at the official ribbon cutting were Andy Goodell, state Assemblyman; Jim Andrews, Busti councilmen; P.J.Wendel, county legislature chairman; Randy Holcomb, representing state Sen. Cathy Young; Jesse Robbins, Busti Town Supervisor; and Jim Quattrone, republican candidate for Chautauqua County Sheriff.
“This is an amazing little jewel here in Busti for family fun on every level,” Goodell said.
Those attractions include a giant slide, apple cannons, a gem mine, face painting, pony rides, a goat shack, a petting zoo, a corn maze, a playground, hayrides, a corn pit, pumpkin bowling and a cow train.
