Storm Hits Area, Postpones And Delays Sporting Events

Friday’s storm brought with it high winds.

According to Bob Hamilton, of the National Weather Service in Buffalo, storms affected the Southern Tier Friday evening and caused straight-line wind damage throughout the area. Indications of possible tornadoes led the National Weather Service to send a hazard weather warning for Allegheny County. However, Hamilton could not provide verification of any full-fledged tornadoes in the area.

Friday’s forecast called showers with a chance of thunderstorms where some thunderstorms were to produce damaging winds and gusty winds. Chance of rain was near 100 percent.
