Sheriff’s Office Offers Hunters’ Class

The Cattaraugus County Sheriff’s Office will host a Hunter Safety education class for the gun portion Sept. 26 and 27 from 4:30 to 9:30 p.m. at Camp Allegany in the Allegany State Park.

There is no charge for the class, and participants must attend both days of instruction to receive a certificate. Participants should be at least 12 years of age. Parents must be present with an 11-year-old child who would like to take the class.

Class size is limited to 35 students. Those attending must bring some form of identification and a pen or pencil. They should also bring snacks, dinner and something to drink. Dinner is available within 15 minutes of the class location.

Pre-registration is required and can be done at register-ed.com. A map of the area is also available for download on the registration page. The sheriff’s office can answer any questions. The Department of Environmental Conservation can be contacted at 372-0645.

Homework must be completed before the class. Course materials can be printed online or can be picked up at the sheriff’s office.
