Little Lenny Cat Care Fund Provides Medical Treatment For Human Society

Editor’s Note: The Chautauqua Region Community Foundation is commemorating its 40th anniversary this year. This week’s story was inspired by gifts to The Little Lenny Cat Care Fund.

When a neighbor brought an abandoned Seal Point Siamese kitten to the home of Amy Choboy and Pamela Rossotto, it was love at first sight.

For years, Choboy and Rossotto have been attentive in the local feral cat population, providing medical care, food, shelter and spaying/neutering procedures.

They soon named him Little Lenny and he began to thrive in their loving household, often joining Choboy at lunchtime, curling up in her lap and falling asleep.

However, it wasn’t long until the women noticed that Lenny’s affections and good nature began to change.

After a thorough examination, their local veterinarian diagnosed Lenny with fatal Feline Infectious Peritonitis, or FIP. After four months of living with Choboy and Rossotto, they had no choice but to put him down to free him from further suffering.

Realizing that there are many feral cats in our community who do not have the good fortune to be properly cared for, the women decided to use Lenny’s passing to create a way to support other cats in their community.

The Little Lenny Cat Care Fund was established to provide necessary medical treatment and spay/neuter procedures to felines under the care of the Chautauqua County Humane Society, Lakeshore Humane Society, Westfield Stray Cat Rescue, and Ten Lives Club of Erie County.
