Cassadaga Student Receives Scholarship From Alumnus
Former Cassadaga Valley Central School Graduate and 1993 valedictorian, Josh Jacobs, gave the 2018 commencement address and awarded Savanna Nickerson with a $500 scholarship from Corning Incorporated.
In 1999, Jacobs embarked on his 20-year career at Corning Inc. where he has expanded his work over three divisions during that time period. Currently, he holds the position of technology manager at Corning Inc. He oversees the company’s Gorilla Glass product line.
During his speech he announced that Nickerson would receive the $500 scholarship.
Superintendent Charles Leichner praised Jacobs and Nickerson as well as thanking Corning Inc. for providing the scholarship.
“Cassadaga Valley is proud to announce that the recipient of a $500.00 scholarship from Corning Inc. was Savanna Nickerson,” he said. “Savanna was selected by the school’s administration as the student who best exemplifies Corning’s seven core values, which are: quality, integrity, performance, leadership, innovation, independence and the unique ability of the individual. The Cassadaga Valley Central School Board of Education and Administration congratulate Savanna Nickerson for receiving this honor and would like to thank Corning Incorporated for their generosity.”
Jacobs resides in Corning with his wife and two daughters. He attended the New York State College of Ceramics at Alfred University after graduating from CVCS in 1993.
