Several Inches Of Lake Effect Snow Expected By Saturday Afternoon
Several inches of lake effect snow is expected by Saturday afternoon, the National Weather Service in Buffalo said today.
A lake effect snow warning was issued, beginning around 7 p.m. this evening to 4 p.m. Saturday. The weather service said 7 to 14 inches of snow could fall in certain locations in Chautauqua and Cattaraugus counties during that time.
In addition to the snow, wind gusts could reach 45 mph, causing areas of blowing and drifting snow, the weather service said.
“If traveling, be prepared for rapidly changing road conditions and visibilities,” the weather service said in its warning Friday.
Following the snow, temperatures are expected to rise Sunday, with a high in the Jamestown area of about 36 degrees. On Monday, rain will mix with snow, with a high of about 38 degrees.
