The County of Chautauqua Industrial Development Agency (CCIDA) announced Tuesday it has signed a project agreement with Athenex, Inc. for its soon-to-be Dunkirk location. The CCIDA will facilitate real property tax and sales tax abatements to incentivize the development and job creation.

Last year, Athenex announced plans to construct a 320,000-square-foot biopharmaceutical manufacturing facility on Lake Shore Drive East, in the town of Dunkirk. The CCIDA began working on the project over two years ago. The initial project investment will be over $200 million.

Over 100 construction jobs will be created. Manufacturing will commence in 2020, and once the facility is fully operational Athenex projects more than 400 new jobs in over three years. A total of 900 new jobs are anticipated including suppliers.

“The County of Chautauqua Industrial Development Agency is ecstatic to have the opportunity to work with Athenex on this game changing project for Chautauqua County,” said Kevin Sanvidge, CEO of the CCIDA in a statement Tuesday. “We are honored to have Athenex choose Chautauqua County, which has given us the opportunity to offer these incentives through the Industrial Development Agency.”
