Benefit To Assist Family Set For Saturday

CHERRY CREEK — A benefit will held Saturday at the Stockton Firehall to benefit the family of Tammy Becker, who passed away in September following a short bout with a very aggressive cancer. The event will be held between the hours of noon-5 p.m.

There will be DJ type music, as well as music from The Zac Rocker Band, a huge Chinese auction including four guns, a 50/50 drawing, a bake sale and a Hunter’s Delight — a free taxidermy job on a deer. A spaghetti dinner is also planned for the day.

Aug. 22 was the day that changed Rich and Tammy’s life forever. On that fateful day, Tammy was diagnosed with Aggressive Sarcomatoid Carcinoma, of the lining between the lung and the chest wall. Four short weeks later, Sept. 22, Tammy succumbed to the disease, leaving Rich to deal with the devastating lost of his wife of 17 years.

“We did everything together, “ he said. “We hunted and trapped. Tammy was very talented, and she loved to make things from fur. We were outdoors constantly — hunting, trapping, metal detecting and looking for ginseng roots. She loved home and family. And she especially loved the fall.”

Mrs. Becker was an empathetic person who enjoyed spending time with the elderly, caring for them.

“She was always doing something for someone,” Becker said.

This coming Sunday area residents will have the opportunity to help this local family, and give a little something back to the lady who spent so much of her time helping others.
