Man Found With 138 Ounces Of Marijuana In Pomfret
Law enforcement officials took a large quantity of marijuana off the streets on Wednesday afternoon.
After a search warrant was executed in the town of Pomfret, Hammad R. Zaidi, 46, of Dunkirk, was charged with second-degree criminal possession of marijuana. At the time, Zaidi was found to be in possession of 138 ounces of marijuana and other items.
At 4:20 p.m., the Southern Tier Regional Drug Task Force, Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office, the City of Dunkirk Police Department and the United States DEA executed a search warrant at 3699 E. Main Road in the town of Pomfret. The search warrant had been issued earlier by Chautauqua County Court Judge Foley, who was acting as a town of Pomfret Justice.
Inside the residence, officers located Zaidi and also seized approximately 138 ounces of marijuana, a quantity of concentrated cannabis, electronic scales, vacuum sealer, packaging materials and a large quantity of U.S. currency. Due to the seizure of these items, Zaidi was charged with second-degree criminal possession of marijuana. Additional charges will be brought against Zaidi at a later date after the items seized have been analyzed.
Zaidi was arraigned before Justice Pulci from the Town of Pomfret and was then committed to the Chautauqua County Jail pending further action by the court.
