Employees of Ring Precision enjoyed the culmination of a week’s worth of appreciation with games, a barbecue and some well-deserved time off.

Employee appreciation week, a yearly tradition of Ring Precision that began on Sept. 11 and ended the following Friday, is a way for the company to give back to the hard-working women and men that contribute to its success.

The event used to be a single day event a few years back, but according to Melissa Himes, human resource manager, one day just wasn’t enough for how hard Ring’s employees work.

“We do it to make sure our employees know that we appreciate everything that they do,” Himes said. “A thank you goes a very long way.”

Friday’s ceremonies commenced with a chicken barbecue provided by All-American Barbecue and Catering, and was followed by activities such as cornhole, a waterballoon fight, target shooting with paintballs and a closest-to-the-pin contest.

Many employees at Ring own a motorcycle, and those who do embarked on a ride around the county as part of their activities.

“Everybody’s attitude is great at the end of the week,” Himes said. “The morale in the shop is just great. In doing something like this, you do lose production hours, but there is just no question about whether it’s worth it. Just being able to thank the employees is worth anything.”

“It’s excellent to work for a company that appreciates (its employees) like this,” said Jim Overfield, a two-year employee of Ring Precision. “This company reinvests a lot back into its employees. It’s a great place for (skilled machine operators) that are looking for a prospective employer.”

Ring Precision is a tool and die company that produces precision components for American ammunition manufacturers such as Remington, Olin and Hornady, as well as medical manufacturers. It currently has 90 employees.
