Jamestown Man Arrested After Lengthy Police Chase

A Jamestown man faces several charges after leading police on a chase that touched Jamestown, Busti, Lakewood and Ellicott before ending up back in Jamestown.

At 9:13 p.m. Monday, Jamestown police officers saw a pickup allegedly fail to stop at the stop sign at Prather and Barrett avenues. Officers tried to pull the vehicle over on McKinley Avenue near Charles Street. The driver, who was later identified as Thomas A. Kimbrough Sr., 47, of Jamestown, reportedly took off at a high of speed and attempted to flee from officers. Officers pursued the vehicle into Busti on Baker Street Extension, continuing into Lakewood and Ellicott before going back into Jamestown, where the pursuit ended on West 15th Street, when Kimbrough allegedly led officers on a short foot pursuit before being taken into custody.

Kimbrough was reportedly driving while impaired and allegedly was in possession of 6.8 grams of cocaine that was packaged for sale. Kimbrough was charged with third-degree criminal possession controlled substance, first-degree reckless endangerment, first-degree aggravated unlicensed operation, third-degree unlawful fleeing a police officer in a motor vehicle, second-degree obstructing governmental administration, DWI Drugs, reckless driving and several vehicle and traffic infractions.

Kimbrough was taken to the Jamestown City Jail awaiting arraignment.
