Church Celebrates Father’s Day By Handing Out Pies

Nearly 20 homemade pies were handed out to the men of Ellington Community Church on Sunday in celebration of Father’s Day. The desserts were courtesy of 80-year-old Sinclairville resident Lucile Frost, a lifetime member of the church who baked the pies over an 11-hour period Saturday. Frost said she’s been baking pies for Father’s Day for the past 12 years, mostly because pies “hit the spot” better than any other gift or bakery item. Pie flavors included apple, cherry, pecan, blueberry, lemon meringue and more. Pictured, on left, is Frost handing a pie to longtime churchgoer John Bracey of Randolph.
