SOUPer Bowl Sunday VI Set For Sunday

Media One Group, Maplevale Farms, UPMC Chautauqua WCA, and WCA Foundation will host SOUPer Bowl Sunday VI from 1-4 p.m. Sunday.

The event features homemade soups created and served by at least 15 local restaurants and caterers. SOUPer Bowl Sunday VI will remain at the Lakewood Rod & Gun Club, 433 E. Terrace Ave., Lakewood.

“The Lakewood Rod and Gun Club has been very generous in hosting the event for the past few years,” said Jim Yezzi, Media One Radio sales manager. “This charity event emphasizes our commitment to improving access to the highest quality of local care.”

Fifteen area restaurants and caterers are donating their time and talents to create homemade soups which will be sampled by all those attending who will have the opportunity to vote for their favorite. Participants will include Elegant Edibles, the winner of SOUPer Bowl II, and the Gametime Sports Bar and Grill, winner of SOUPer Bowl I, along with Vern’s Place, Red Lobster, Tarmac Cafe, B& B Caterers, Wing City Grille, Webbs Captains Table, Tim Horton’s, the Nic L Inn, Lori’s Country Cafe, the Lakewood Rod & Gun, the winner of SOUPer Bowl V, and the Lakewood Legion.

“We are impressed with all of the community support,” says Megan Barone, UPMC Chautauqua WCA and WCA Foundation director of development. “Our community is once again demonstrating its outstanding commitment to enhancing the technology and care making us stronger every day.”

In addition to the soups, SOUPer Bowl Sunday VI will feature music from DJ’s Unlimited and an outstanding benefit basket giveaways featuring items donated by local businesses as well as supporting businesses in other areas. Basket giveaway items include Buffalo Bills and Buffalo Giants Memorabilia (Jim Kelly autographed helmet), Buffalo Sabres (Zemgus Girgensons autographed hockey stick), Texas Rangers (Adrian Beltre autographed baseball) one-year membership from Lakewood Rod & Gun Club, Green Bay Packers (#27 Eddie Lacy autographed football), Cutco knife set, gift cards, and gift baskets.

All of the proceeds from this year’s SOUPer Bowl Sunday VI will benefit robotic surgery at UPMC Chautauqua WCA and The Rapaport Fund at WCA Foundation. The Souper Bowl has raised more than $28,000 to support UPMC Chautauqua WCA’s robotic surgery program.

Pre-sale tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for children under 12 and are available at the UPMC Chautauqua WCA Office of Development by calling 664-8423 and the Lakewood Rod & Gun Club by calling 763-3955. Tickets will also be available at the door costing $12 for adults and $6 for children under 12.
