Pair Facing Felony Drug Charges In Traffic Stop

Two Jamestown residents were held pending arraignment after a traffic stop Tuesday led to the discovery of marijuana, cocaine and crack cocaine.

Jamestown police pulled over a vehicle at 65 River St. at about 2 p.m. for failure to signal a turn. The occupants were identified as 32-year-old Charles A. Washington and 18-year-old Mariah K. Snyder.

During the traffic stop, Snyder was allegedly found to be in possession of in small quantity of marijuana. A later investigation also found her in possession of 9 grams of cocaine and 6 grams of crack cocaine, police said Wednesday.

A search of the vehicle turned up 11 ounces of marijuana, drug packaging material and a digital scale.

Washington was taken into custody without incident. Both were charged with criminal use of drug paraphernalia and felony criminal possession of marijuana.

Snyder also was charged with two counts of felony criminal possession of a controlled substance.
