WARREN, Pa. — A recent grant from Community Foundation of Warren County has allowed Warren General Hospital to purchase new equipment.

The grant from the Community Foundation — totaling $134,260 — provided Warren General with the funds for a brand new OrthoScan mobile mini C-arm device.

The OrthoScan mobile mini C-arm device is a portable x-ray and fluoroscopic device offers a range of connectivity options for electronic management records and produces excellent digital image quality. The mobile mini device is designed to reduce radiation to the whole body, while just focusing on the part of the body that needs it.

The mobile mini C-arm also has a pivot joint which makes it easier for the C-arm to swivel back and forth, which helps technologists acquire the correct image they need while in the operating room or in the physician’s office patient rooms. Another advantage that the mobile C-arm machine provides the ability for surgical physicians to move it from room to room to image the patient, rather than having to wait to use the stationary machine. This will result in lower waiting times for patients. The device also allows patients to view scan results in real time, and brings imaging to immobile patients.

The device is just over two feet tall, and weighs in at 35 pounds. The small stature of the device allows it to be easily moved by hospital staff.

Richard Allen, Warren General Hospital CEO, says the hospital is grateful for the support they receive from the Community Foundation.

“We are excited about the support we get from the Community Foundation of Warren County in the way of grants to help buy medical equipment,” Allen said. “We want to thank them for their support.”
