(10:05 AM) Bill Would Lower Threshold For Hunting While Intoxicated

ALBANY (AP) — The Democratic-controlled state Legislature has passed a measure to lower the legal blood-alcohol content threshold for hunting while intoxicated.

The Senate passed the legislation Wednesday, a day after it was approved in the Assembly.

The current legal BAC threshold for hunting while intoxicated is 0.10 percent. The legislation seeks to lower it to 0.08 percent, the same as it is for the state’s driving while intoxicated and boating while intoxicated laws.

The bill passed in the Democratic-controlled Assembly last year but wasn’t brought up for a vote in the then-Republican-controlled Senate.

The legislation was sponsored by Kenneth Zebrowski, of Rockland County, and Sen. Anna Kaplan, of Nassau County. It now goes to Democratic Gov. Andrew Cuomo for approval or veto.
