The American Red Cross has been called to help tenants of an apartment complex following a structure fire Tuesday in Jamestown.

The fire at 154 James Ave., across from the Jamestown Community College campus, was reported shortly before noon. The blaze, which appears to have started in a second floor room, was quickly doused by city firefighters.

ALSTAR EMS and Jamestown police also responded to the scene.

The cause of the fire wasn’t immediately known. Two city fire investigators were summoned to the apartment complex.

The Jamestown Board of Public Utilities said customers in the area of JCC may experience discolored water for 12 to 24 hours as a result of the fire.

More information will be released when it becomes available.
