National Grid Planned Power Outage Saturday

As part of an electric transmission system upgrade, National Grid is planning a brief power interruption to about 1,900 customers in parts of Bemus Point, Chautauqua, Dewittville, Maple Springs, Ellery and Mayville the morning of Saturday.

The planned interruption should last no more than 10 minutes sometime between 6-7 a.m., and allow the company to energize a recently upgraded substation in Hartfield. National Grid is contacting all impacted customers via automated phone messages to ensure that they are aware of this planned, temporary power interruption.

Over the last several months, National Grid crews have been upgrading and replacing equipment at the Hartfield substation. While the work was being completed, temporary equipment was used to ensure that customers had electric service. The power interruption Saturday will occur as the company transfers from the temporary equipment to the upgraded, permanent, more robust equipment.

In the event of inclement weather Saturday, National Grid will conduct additional outreach to customers, alerting them that the work will be rescheduled for Jan. 19.
