A wind chill warning remains in effect for much of the area through 7 p.m. Monday evening, the National Weather Service in Buffalo said.

Chautauqua, Cattaraugus, Wyoming, Livingston, Ontario, Allegany and southern Erie counties are all included in the warning. According to the weather service, wind chills could reach 35 degrees below zero.

“The dangerously cold wind chills could cause frostbite on exposed skin in as little as 10 minutes,” the weather service said.

For the Jamestown area, the high Monday is expected to be about 10 degrees, with 6 below as the low.

For precautions, the weather service said those who must be outside should cover all exposed skin.

Meanwhile, Gov. Andrew Cuomo on Sunday urged New Yorkers to refrain from going outside over the next couple of days unless absolutely necessary. Meteorologists expect wind chills of 25 to 35 below zero upstate through Monday afternoon. In the Lower Hudson Valley, there’s concern for flash freezing on the roads.

The storm system has dumped anywhere from 10 to 15 inches of snow upstate, with up to 20 inches in the higher elevations.

New York City and the metro region got mostly rain.
