CONEWANGO TWP, Pa. — The Conewango Township Police Department in particular and Warren County, Pa., and regional law enforcement in general have a new officer.

K-9 Nic was sworn in at Monday’s meeting of the Conewango Township supervisors.

Nic and Officer Scott Neiswonger recently completed Police K-9 Academy at Shallow Creek Kennels in Sharpsville, Pa.

The new team will be on patrol this week.

Warren County has been without a police K-9 since the service-related death of K-9 Choper, Neiswonger’s previous partner, in June.

“2018 has been a very long hard road for me,” Neiswonger said. “With all of the support in our community I was able to raise enough to start a new road in my life with a new pup.”

Nic is a 1 1/2-year-old German Shepherd. He comes to the department through Shallow Creek from Holland, just like Choper.

“I am so blessed and very happy to introduce my new partner and best friend K-9 Nic,” Neiswonger said. “I want to thank everyone and all of the businesses that have made this possible. It has been amazing to receive all of the support I have. It is truly humbling to know that K-9 Choper and I helped and made such a difference in our wonderful community. I am looking forward to working and continuing our education in the community.”

“A special thank you to Shallow Creek Kennels for such an amazing partner and for the opportunity,” Neiswonger said. “It means the world to me.”
