(1:40 PM) JPD To Reopen To Public Tuesday

The Jamestown Police Department will reopen to the public on Tuesday, more than a year after flooding caused significant damage to files, computers and other equipment.

Chief Harry Snellings said the department will reopen at 9 am. Until that time, the lobby and reception area will remain closed as it has since the September 2017 incident in which water from heavy rain leaked into the East Second Street police department.

Jamestown Mayor Sam Teresi said general contractors working on the Tracy Plaza construction project did not properly secure their site. The mayor said “inadequate procedures” were taken that allowed rainwater to enter areas of the municipal building under the deck, which includes the police department.
