(11:52 AM) Victim In Sunday Accident Is In Stable Condition At UPMC Hamot

A 47-year-old man who was hit by a car on Washington Street at 8:21 p.m. Sunday is in stable condition at the UPMC Hamot Medical Center in Erie.

The Washington Street Bridge was closed to traffic in both directions following the crash, which occurred near the south end of the bridge when a vehicle driving south hit a man who was walking in the road, according to a police report released Monday. The pedestrian was first taken to UPMC Chautauqua before being transferred to UPMC Hamot.

An accident reconstruction team was still at the scene around 11:30 p.m. The bridge reopened shortly before midnight.

No additional information is available now. No charges have been filed. The investigation is continuing. The victim’s name has been withheld by police.
