(9:17 AM) City Man Charged After Allegedly Swinging Machete At Another Person

Eddie Melendez, 45, of Jamestown, was charged at 8:27 p.m. Thursday with second-degree menacing and second-degree reckless endangerment after allegedly swinging a machete at another person.

Officers from the Jamestown Police Department’s Second Platoon responded to a report of a person with a weapon at 748 E. Second St. According to a police report, officers were already aware when they responded to the scene that Melendez was allegedly involved in the incident. A person spoke to police and said Melendez allegedly swung at him with a machete but missed. Officers found Melendez at a nearby home on Cheney Street and charged him.

Melendez was taken to the Jamestown City Jail without further incident and will be in Jamestown City Court later.
