Jamestown firefighters received assistance from several area volunteer departments after a fire broke out at a city residence early Sunday.

First responders were called to 4 Forest Park, between Warner Place and Washington Street, for the blaze around 2:30 a.m. Crews focused on the attic area of the residence, where smoke could be seen coming from multiple windows.

Members of the Chautauqua County Fire Police were called to shut down portions of Forest Avenue. Firefighters from Busti, Celoron and Lakewood were summoned to the city to assist at the scene. A rehab trailer from the Kiantone Fire Department was also called, while Falconer firefighters were asked to stand by at City Hall.

One person was taken to UPMC Chautauqua from the scene, though who or the severity of injuries wasn’t known.

Crews were on scene for several hours.

Fire investigators were called to help determine the cause of the fire. The local chapter of the American Red Cross was requested to assist as well.

More information will be released when it becomes available.
