(1:45 PM) Falconer Man Charged After Fleeing Police During Traffic Stop

A Falconer man was facing a host of charges after reportedly fleeing from city police during a traffic stop early Thursday.

Daniel S. Babyak, 45, was being held pending arraignment after officers with the Jamestown Police Department attempted to stop the minivan he was driving around 3:20 a.m. on Steele Street for having no front license plate. Officers attempted to stop Babyak in the area of Fairview Avenue and West Third Street, at which time the Falconer man reportedly fled.

The pursuit went into the town of Ellicott and ended in the yard of a Merlin Avenue home. Babyak was taken into custody and transported to Jamestown City Jail.

Babyak was charged with third-degree unlawfully fleeing a police officer in a motor vehicle, installation and operation of an ignition interlock device, second-degree aggravated unlicensed operation, reckless driving, switched plates and other vehicle and traffic violation, the Jamestown Police Department said in a press release.
