(12:02 PM) Pennsylvania Man Facing Felony Welfare Fraud Charges
A Pennsylvania man is facing felony welfare fraud charges, the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office said.
Timothy S. Fisher, 31, of Shinglehouse, Pa., was issued appearance tickets Thursday on charges of fourth-degree grand larceny, fourth-degree welfare fraud and misuse of food stamps, all felonies.
According to the Sheriff’s Office, from May 1, 2015, to Dec. 31, 2015, Fisher reportedly failed to notify the Chautauqua County Department of Health and Human Services of income received within his household. This allowed Fisher to receive $2,805 in benefits, the Sheriff’s Office said in a press release.
Fisher is scheduled to appear in Jamestown City Court at a later date.
To report suspected welfare fraud, the Sheriff’s Office said to call the county Welfare Fraud Hotline at 1-800-388-5365 or We Tip line at 1-800-782-7463.
