A Jamestown pizza shop has closed its doors. Marco’s Pizza, located at 607 N. Main St., reportedly closed Monday morning, leaving vacant a space next to Family Video and a location easily accessible for late-night movie seekers.

According to a sign posted on the front door, the location has been “permanently closed due to ever increasing labor costs from the State of New York. We thank you for your business. We have appreciated your loyalty over the years.”

A man who identified himself as the general manager said he could not comment on the sudden shuttering. He directed questions to Hoogland Foods, owner of Marco’s Pizza. A call to the company was not immediately returned.

Crews were seen taking equipment from the store and loading it onto a truck.

Marco’s Pizza came to Jamestown in 2013. The company said the “one-stop-shop” with Family Video next door made it a good choice to set roots in the city. For patrons, a window existed between the two stores where someone could rent a movie and order a pizza at the same time.

Family Video remains open.
