(1:30 PM) 3 Charged After ‘Large Quantity’ Of Drugs Found In Stop

Three people were facing charges after police found a “large quantity of illegal narcotics” during a traffic stop Monday morning in Jamestown.

Waiting to be arraigned in Jamestown City Court were 38-year-old Lashon J. Hayes, 36-year-old Lawrence B. McGrigg and a 17-year-old female after the three were stopped at 8:37 a.m. at Hazeltine Avenue and Baker Street.

In a press release, Jamestown police said 34.2 grams of mushrooms, 10.7 grams of crack cocaine and 68.1 grams of marijuana were found in the vehicle.

All three were taken into custody and transported to Jamestown City Jail on Monday.

Hayes and the teenager were each charged with second- and third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, both felonies, and fourth-degree criminal possession of marijuana. The female also was charged with two counts of seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance after she was allegedly found with a small amount of crystal methamphetamine and five bags of heroin.

McGrigg was additionally charged with fifth-degree criminal possession of marijuana after he was found with 41.7 grams of marijuana, Jamestown police said.
