(10:30 AM) Body Found During Search Of Blue Heron Grounds; Identity Has Not Been Confirmed

SHERMAN — A body has been found during the search for a missing Warren area man, but there isn’t yet confirmation of the body’s identity.

New York State Police at Jamestown confirm only that a body has been found. The Conewango Township Police Dept. is leading the investigation. Attempts to reach the department by email and telephone have been unsuccessful this morning. On Thursday, local K-9 units scoured various areas near the Blue Heron for any sign of Sven Blumquist, 23, of Conewango. In addition to the Conewango Township Police Department, the New York State Police, Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office and state Forest Rangers were also assisting in the search.

Blumquist has been missing since Sunday from the festival grounds. Heather Burkett, Blumquist’s sister, told The Post-Journal Thursday that her brother looked forward to the three-day festival known for its rural location far from most amenities. The site is surrounded by heavily wooded areas marked by patches of open fields and small ponds.

“It was his favorite music festival. He wouldn’t miss it,” she said.

This story will be updated throughout the day as more information becomes available.
