4:30 P.M.: Flooding Reported In Cherry Creek

CHERRY CREEK — Heavy rain that included some severe thunderstorms has resulted in some area flooding.

Cherry Creek and Ellington firefighters were summoned to help direct traffic after several roads in Cherry Creek were reported to be under water. Some of the flooding has been reported on Hunt Road in Cherry Creek.

The National Weather Service in Buffalo issued a flash flood warning for southwestern Cattaraugus and southeastern Chautauqua counties. The weather service said thunderstorms in the area could produce heavy rain. Up to 2 inches of rain has already fallen in some areas.

Locations expected to see heavy rain include Falconer, Ellington, Randolph, East Randolph and Kennedy. This includes Interstate 86, between exits 13 and 16.
