Steven Patterson

A city man was charged Tuesday with tax fraud and being in possession of untaxed cigarettes, the Jamestown Police Department said.

Steven R. Patterson, 46, was taken into custody after members of the police department, Jamestown Metro Drug Task Force and New York State Police assisted state Tax and Finance officers execute a search warrant on his 262 Forest Ave. apartment around 8:40 a.m.

Inside, officers reportedly found more than 50 cartons of untaxed cigarettes and “several thousands dollars in cash,” Jamestown police said Tuesday in a press release.

Patterson was charged with fifth-degree criminal tax fraud and felony possession of unstamped/untaxed cigarettes. He was held pending arraignment in Jamestown City Court.
