8:38 A.M.: Dunkirk Man Leads Jamestown Police On Vehicle Pursuit

Conrad K. Thomas, 32, of Dunkirk, faces a litany of charges after leading Jamestown police on a vehicle pursuit early Friday morning.

Police report the Jamestown Police Department’s K-9 Unit tried to pull over a vehicle for having a headlight out on Sprague Street near Front Street in Jamestown. Thomas led police on a high-speed pursuit for a couple of blocks before stopping. Thomas then exited the vehicle quickly and ran away, leading the K-9 Unit on a foot chase despite several verbal warnings. Thomas reportedly went into a wooded area where K-9 Mitchell tracked Thomas, who was hiding near a set of parked cars on Steele Street in tall grass.

Thomas surrendered to the K-9 Unit and was taken to the Jamestown City Jail until he can be arraigned. He was charged with no headlights, unsafe tire, second-degree aggravated unlicensed operator, third-degree unlawful fleeing a police officer, second-degree obstructing governmental administration, failure to comply with a lawful order, three counts of failure to stop for a stop sign, failure to signal and speeding.
