2:49 P.M: Red Cross Honors Hometown Heroes

For seven individuals, and one very special canine, Wednesday morning was a time to be venerated.

Community members of various vocations assembled at Moon Brook Country Club to participate in the 15th annual Hometown Heroes Breakfast, presented by the Southwestern New York Chapter of the American Red Cross and Cummins Engine’s Jamestown Engine Plant.

“Our neighbors who are being honored here today each have done something extraordinary,” said Alex Murello, Southwestern New York Chapter executive director. “For some it was a spur of the moment reaction, while for others it’s been a lifetime of dedicated service. We are here today to make sure they receive the praise and honors they so richly deserve.”

This year’s distinguished guests included: Ron Johnson of Jamestown; Eric Herman of Bemus Point; Charles Piazza of Falconer, and Falconer Fire Department chief; Jamestown Police Department Officer Erik Craft and K-9 Mitchell, of Bemus Point; Ed Sandberg of Jamestown; Vinny Certo of Lakewood; and Beverli Horrocks of Bemus Point.
