Police: Body Of Man Found In Randolph

RANDOLPH — New York State Police said the body of a man was discovered on Swanson Hill Road in the town of Randolph on Saturday.

The body was found around 5:15 p.m. by someone who called police. The State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation responded and is investigating the incident.

An autopsy is scheduled to determine the man’s identity and cause of death, police said.

“This is still an ongoing investigation and no information will be given at this time,” State Police said.

The discovery came around the same time the body of a man was discovered near Corell Creek Saturday in the town of Portland. Police said a motorist discovered the body near the water across from the town park on Route 20 before calling 911. An autopsy was scheduled to determine his identity and cause of death.

Capt. Eric Balon of the NYSP said there was “no reason to believe” either case was related.

In addition, neither death is believed to be connected to the disappearance of 35-year-old Sean Carpenter, who was last seen in Jamestown on April 11. Jamestown police were notified Saturday that the man found in Randolph is not connected to its missing person case.

“We’re still actively seeking information on the whereabouts of Sean Carpenter,” Capt. Robert Samuelson of the Jamestown Police Department told The Post-Journal.
