Veterans Council To Host Comedian Friday

FREWSBURG — The United Veterans Council of Jamestown will host a comedy show Friday at the Samuel L Derby American Legion Post 556, 9 Meadow Lane, Frewsburg.

The show starts at 9 p.m. with a 50/50 and basket giveaways and barrel of booze giveaway being held right before the show. Pre-sale tickets are available for $15 each at the Frewsburg American Legion, 9 Meadow Lane, Frewsburg; Ira Lou Spring Post 149 American Legion, 364 Fluvanna Ave., Jamestown; or by calling 450-6768 or $17 at the door.

Longhorn the Comedian will present his comedy show “Laughter Has No Color.” Longhorn is a U.S. Army veteran who enjoys entertain veterans and does regular fundraising for various veteran organizations. Longhorn can be followed on Instagram and Facebook by searching Longhorn the Comedian as well as Laughter has No Color on Facebook. Longhorn is known for his high energy, blunt-about-life performance.

The Samuel L Derby Post 556 American Legion in Frewsburg is sponsoring the evening and will serve its normal Friday dinner beginning at 5 p.m. with a featured dinner of mussels over fettucine with pesto sauce along with numerous other choices. Veterans of Modern Warfare Chapter 20 Inc. sponsored the fundraiser by paying for Longhorn to come to town. All proceeds from the event will help purchase more U.S. Veteran flag holders to be placed in local cemeteries. The goal is to place more than 4,500 grave markers in Lakeview, Holy Sepulchre and Holy Cross cemeteries in Jamestown; the flag holders are available for purchase for $15 each. More than 600 flag holders have been placed, but more funding is needed to complete the project in the three local cemeteries.
