Reg Lenna To Screen ‘Widows’ And ‘Instant Family’ This Week

The Reg Lenna Center for The Arts will show the heist thriller “Widows” on Wednesday, Jan. 23, at 7 p.m. and the family comedy “Instant Family” on Saturda,y Jan. 26, at 4 p.m.

Admission is $5 to each screening.

In “Widows, a police shootout leaves four thieves dead during an explosive armed robbery attempt in Chicago. Their widows — Veronica, Linda, Alice and Belle — have nothing in common except a debt left behind by their spouses’ criminal activities. Hoping to forge a future on their own terms, Veronica joins forces with the other three women to pull off a heist that her husband was planning. The film stars Viola Davis (“The Help”, “Fences”), Cynthia Ervo (“Bad Times at the El Royale”), Colin Farrell (“The Beguiled”, Brian Tyree Henry (FX’s “Atlanta”) and Daniel Kaluuya (“Get Out”, “Black Panther”.) “Widows” is rated R and is 128 minutes long.

Mark Wahlberg (“All the Money in the World”) and Rose Byrne (“Peter Rabbit”) star in the comedy “Instant Family” about a married couple who adopt three children after becoming interested in the foster care experience. When Pete and Ellie decide to start a family, they stumble into the world of foster care adoption. They hope to take in one small child, but when they meet three siblings, including a rebellious 15-year-old girl, they find themselves speeding from zero to three kids overnight. Now, Pete and Ellie must try to learn the ropes of instant parenthood in the hopes of becoming a family. “Instant Family” is rated PG-13 and is 120 minutes long. The film will be shown following a Michaels Kids arts and craft activity event in The Reg’s new media arts studio. The activity will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and is provided by staff from Michaels Crafts in Lakewood. Supplies are provided and the activities are free.

Upcoming Movies at The Reg include Melissa McCarthy in the biographical comedy “Can You Ever Forgive Me?” on Wednesday, Jan. 30, at 7 p.m., Saoirse Ronan and Margot Robbie in “Mary Queen of Scots” on Wednesday, Feb. 13, at 7 p.m. and Emma Stone and Rachel Weisz in the dark period comedy “The Favourite” on Saturday, Feb. 23, at 8 p.m.

Tickets are available from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday at the ticket counter within the 3rd on 3rd Gallery, 108 E. Third St., over the phone at 484-7070 or online at reglenna.com. Tickets are also available at the Reg box office one hour prior to showtimes.
