County Lakes, Waterways Grant Applications Available

Chautauqua County is offering grants to improve our lakes and waterways. The 2020 Round of the County’s award-winning 2 percent Occupancy Tax Grant Program for Lakes and Waterways opened on Jan. 1 and will close on April 1.

“Generally, water quality improvement projects located within the Lake Erie, Bear Lake, Cassadaga Lakes, Findley Lake and Chautauqua Lake watersheds are eligible,” said Chautauqua County Watershed Coordinator Dave McCoy.

Requests up to $40,000 of project cost will be considered for implementation in 2020 and applications are available online on the Chautauqua County website located at www.co.chautauqua.ny.us/519/Project-Funding. Hard copies of the applications are also available at the offices of the Chautauqua County Division of Planning and Community Development located at 2 S. Portage St. in Westfield or at the county Department of Planning and Development located at 201 W. Third St., Suite 115, in Jamestown during normal business hours.

“We have funded some very beneficial and creative projects since the Occupancy Tax Program’s inception,” said Chautauqua County Executive George Borrello.

“Chautauqua County has a lot to offer for residents and visitors, and the Occupancy Tax Program for Lakes & Waterways continues to have beneficial economic and environmental impacts by spending local dollars on projects that help our water resource management.”
