Theta Beta Chapter Chapter Of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority Holds Meeting

SHERMAN — Theta Beta Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi International Sorority met at the home of Rose Van Volkenburg, on Nov. 29.

Van Volkenburg presented the program, “Service” by explaining the need to serve and its rewards. She covered the general categories of charitable, Good Samaritan, simple kindness and professional service by explaining the effects of service on others as well as the effect on the one who serves. The receptiveness of the receiver largely determines how much benefit will be received. When both are in tune, the service flows like an electrical circuit passing between the two.

Van Volkenburg, president, presided over the business meeting. Members provided Christmas gifts for CASA children delivering these gifts to the CASA office on Dec. 3. Schools supplies for Chautauqua Lake Central School were delivered on Nov. 30.

A Lottery Tree fundraiser was held on Dec. 1 at the annual Sherman Stanley Hose Auxiliary Christmas Bazaar. Members will be furnishing Christmas cupcakes for residents of North Haven, Mayville Senior, and Portage Hill apartments.

Tracie Smith and Susie Hayes provided refreshments.
