St. Luke’s Episcopal Church will hold its annual Veteran’s Day Service on Sunday, Nov. 11.

The event holds special significance this year as the Centennial commemoration of the end of World War 1 on Nov. 11, 1918. The community is invited to join members of the American Legion for the celebration and remembrance of those who have served, and those who still serve in the Armed Forces.

“St. Luke’s has held the annual Veteran’s Day service as long as anyone here can remember,” said the Rev. Luke Fodor, Rector of St. Luke’s. “We especially remember all who gave their lives in the defense of our nation. We offer our appreciation to the members of the Ira Lou Spring Post #149 in sponsoring this Veterans’ Day service and are proud to join them in offering it to our community.”

Local veteran Clyde Card, who is also a member of St. Luke’s will be the speaker for the remembrance service, which begins immediately following the regularly scheduled 10am Sunday service at the traditional time of 11:11 a.m.

“Because the holiday falls on a Sunday, this year’s ceremony will directly follow our regular Sunday service. Anyone who will be attending the Veteran’s Day remembrance is welcome to join us for both services.” Fodor said. “In fact, they might be interested in joining us for our adult forum at 9 a,m,, when we’ll welcome special guest, Fr. Michael Calabria, a Franciscan friar and founding director of St. Bonaventure’s Center for Arab and Islamic Studies.”

St Luke’s Episcopal Church is located at 410 N. Main St., Jamestown. For more information call 483-6405 or visit stlukesjamestown.org.
