Weiser, Dube To Perform At Infinity

The Jazz Concert Series at the Infinity Arts Cafe, 302 E. Third St., Jamestown, will feature Nick Weiser and Alec Dube at 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 26.

The concert is sponsored in part by the Chautauqua Region Community Foundation. There is no admission price.

An offering will be accepted to help pay transportation costs for area American Music Abroad high school musicians touring Europe in 2019. Area saxophonist John Cross will host the monthly event.

The music for the concert will feature a mixture of familiar and lesser known jazz standard tunes, as well as a fresh new take on contemporary tunes by artists such as Stevie Wonder, the Beatles and Joni Mitchell. Cross will also join in on some blues favorites.

Weiser has performed widely, including the Umbria Jazz Festival in Perugia, Italy, and Switzerland’s Montreux Jazz Festival. He is a graduate of the University of Kansas and the Eastman School of Music and serves as the head of jazz studies at the State University at Fredonia.

Percussionist and vibraphonist Alec Dube is a performer, composer and educator.

He was named Jazz Vibraphonist of the Year in 2015 by Jazz Buffalo and has shared the stage with artists such as Arturo Sandoval, Bruce Johnstone, Yo-Yo Ma, Bobby Militello and Helen Sung. His newest project is Critical Mass. Dube teaches at SUNY Fredonia and Villa Maria College.

Those attending can enter under the guitar on the corner of Prendergast Avenue and Third Street to attend the concert.

Guests needing to avoid stairs can contact Infinity ahead of time by calling 664-0991 to let officials know they will need to be let in at the Second Street entrance.
