Daughters Of The American Revolution Members To Meet Saturday

Members of the Jamestown Chapter Daughters of the American Revolution met recently at the historic chapter house on Prospect Street.

Prospective member Maureen Berner was introduced and welcomed by members. Following a brief business meeting led by Regent Connie Pilato, members enjoyed a program presented by Master Gardner Patricia Martonis from Cornell Cooperative Extension of Chautauqua County. Among her topics were attracting beneficial insects with native flowering plants and choosing native plants for historic gardens. An extensive discussion with questions and answers was held.

Following Martonis’ program, refreshments were served by Sarah Smith Becker and Loretta Smith. The next chapter meeting will be held Saturday at 12:30 p.m. at the chapter house, when Steve Booth, president of the Chautauqua County Chapter Sons of the American Revolution, will share information about Patriot Lafayette.

Any woman 18 years and older who can prove lineage to a patriot who aided in the American Revolution is eligible for membership. For more information on becoming a member, call 664-4144.
