Randolph Altar Server Honored

Harper McKenzie Smith, 13, of Napoli was honored at the 49th Annual Bishop’s Altar Server Awards ceremony on Saturday, March 24.

Bishop Richard J. Malone presided over the mass for over 70 area altar servers who were chosen from their respective parishes.

Harper is the daughter of Raleigh and Tara Smith of Napoli, and the granddaughter of James and Janet Huntington of Randolph and Randy and Sue Smith of Napoli. She is also the great-granddaughter of Naomi Stahley of Falconer, Charles Huntington of Little Valley and Ruth Sturgis of Randolph.

Harper was chosen to present the gifts to the Bishop during the mass of celebration.

A banquet was held for those attending the Awards ceremony at the Buffalo Convention Center where Harper’s family, grandparents, and aunt, Karen Cloutier who is also St Patrick’s Parish Council president enjoyed a delicious buffet meal.

Harper is a seventh-grader at Randolph Central School. She enjoys snowboarding, softball, soccer and especially her horses. Harper competes locally in equestrian events with an emphasis on horse jumping. She has been involved in the horse program for many years with Dunham Sport horses in Napoli.

Harper has been an altar server for four years at St. Patrick’s Parish in Randolph.
