Blood Drive Is Today At Frewsburg Legion
FREWSBURG — The Community Blood Bank of Northwestern Pennsylvania and Western New York will host a blood drive at the Frewsburg American Legion, 9 Meadow Lane, Frewsburg, from 4-7 p.m. today.
The bank is the main supplier of blood to area hospitals.
Today’s blood drive is open to the community; walk-ins are welcome. No appointment is necessary.
“When you donate blood with the Community Blood Bank you’re giving a patient in a local hospital the blood they need to sustain them. You’re giving them the gift of life and you’re giving their families the gift of more time with their loved one,” said Kathy Hastings, mobile drive coordinator for the Community Blood Bank.
Individuals are eligible to give blood if it has been 56 days since their last donation; they are at least 17 years of age (16 with parental consent); weigh at least 110 pounds; have not received a tattoo or body piercing in the past 12 months; are in good general health and do not have a cold or the flu.
Donors must have a valid photo ID in order to register.
Prior to donating, those giving blood should eat a good, solid meal and drink at least 18 ounces of water.
