WMH Auxiliary Begins Membership Drive

WESTFIELD — The Westfield Memorial Hospital Auxiliary is embarking on its 2018 membership drive.

The auxiliary’s mission is to promote the interests of the hospital through advocacy, volunteer activities, fundraising, and community outreach. 2017 projects included: completion of the renovation of the cafeteria, now known as “The Bistro”; new baskets in the lobby for magazines; the antique Pharmacy Safe cleaned and put on display in the lobby; money given to help pay for outdoor plantings; purchase of poinsettias and a wreath for the Bistro; decorated lobby and community room Christmas trees; and sponsored a $200 hole for the foundation golf tournament.

Financing for the projects was made possible by the community support of the following: annual membership drive; Election Day ham dinner; spring chicken and biscuit dinner; pie booth at the Westfield Arts and Crafts Festival; Parklane Jewelry sales; Lottery Tree; quilt giveaway; and sales of porcelain ornaments, magnets and thimbles.

Auxiliary community outreach also promotes the hospital by sponsoring blood pressure screenings and various community wellness meetings and activities throughout the year. A recent community event featured Roberta Patterson, program and outreach chairman, giving a presentation to the Westfield-Mayville Rotary Club. The group has also been invited to participate in the Health Fair at Brocton Central School on March 15.

Those who have received a membership card in the mail can return it with a tax deductible $5 dues and/or donation. Donors can check off areas of interest on the card. Those who did not receive a card in the mail but want to join and help support Westfield Memorial Hospital can call Joyce Behm, membership chairperson, at 232-4114.
