Pair Awarded Fredonia Scholarship

Jamestown High School seniors Maverick Tomczak and Olivia Gren were recently awarded academic scholarships to SUNY Fredonia should they choose to attend the school after graduation. Both students received a President’s Science/Math Scholarship.

The President’s Science/Math Scholarship is a renewable $4,000 award given to new incoming first-year students. This is in addition to both Olivia and Maverick also receiving the President’s Award for Excellence Scholarship. The President’s Award for Excellence Scholarship is a renewable $3,000 merit-based award to entering first-year students. Only a handful of students receive these prestigious awards each year.

Maverick was accepted into Math Adolescence Education and Olivia was accepted into Mathematics should they decide to attend SUNY Fredonia. Olivia & Maverick were also nominated for the Fredonia Honor’s Program, which could come with an addition $1,000 if they choose to apply and enter the program.

“We are very proud of Maverick and Olivia’s accomplishments,” said Principal Mike McElrath. “They are exemplary students and deserve these awards for all of their hard work and dedication. They represent the best of JHS.”
