‘Keyboard Exploration’ To Be Heard By Mozart Club

The Mozart Club was treated to a Valentine’ s program, “Love Makes the World Go Round” on Feb. 7 at the MarvinHouse. Performers were Mary Schmidt, soprano; Mike Nichols, tenor; and Andy Schmidt , piano.

Mary Schmidt has directed two local church choirs, has sung in area church choirs and in the Mozart Chorus. She is presently singing with Jamestown Choral Society and St. Luke’s Episcopal Church choir.

Mike Nichols has been singing and performing for over 40 years. He studied music and math at SUNY Fredonia and has taught various music classes and workshops in the US and Canada. He is a music conductor/arranger and sings in a barbershop quartet.

Andy Schmidt is a graduate of the Eastman School of music in piano performance. He has taught piano for 30 years and is organist/choir master at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church in Jamestown. He is also the conductor of the Jamestown Choral Society. As a certified adjudicator in the National Guild of Piano Teachers, he will be taking his third trip to judge for the guild in China this summer.

The next meeting of the Mozart Club will be on Wednesday, March 14, at 1:30 p.m. at the Marvin House. The program will be “Keyboard Exploration” with Sharon Johnson, associate professor at Houghton College.
