Valley Historical Society Elects Officers For 2018

SINCLAIRVILLE — The Valley Historical Society was established in 1977, and has a museum in the village of Sinclairville at the corner of Main and Lester Streets. The museum is open for tours at no cost on Sundays from the beginning of May each year until the end of September. Monthly meetings are held on the first Tuesday of the month usually at 7 p.m. with a program or a guest speaker. New members are always welcome.

Recently the annual Christmas dinner was held at the South Stockton Wayside Chapel in the Fellowship Hall.

At the recent gathering, officers for 2018 were elected. Larry Barmore will serve as the president, with Betty Jean Ridout as the vice president. Kay Richardson will be the recording secretary and John Sipos will serve as the treasurer. Trustees will be Evelyn Thorndike, June Woollett, Linda Parmenter, Charles Sylvester and Kevin Lesch. Susan Sipos will use her computer skills to create the annual program. Museum curators are Bonnie Larkin and Diane Shaw. Sylvester and Barmore are arranging for speakers for the monthly meetings in 2018.

The historical society is taking a winter break now and will hold its first meeting of the year on Tuesday, April 3. This will be the annual maple sugar party, and held in the South Stockton Wayside Chapel at 7 p.m. Dues for members will be collected then.

The monthly meetings from May through October will be held in Sinclairville. For more information on the Valley Historical Society, write to P.O. Box 1045, Sinclairville, NY 14782.
